On February 4, 2026, a CSEA delegation led by the Executive Director Dr. Chukwuka Onyekwena, accompanied by Anthony Bisong, Research Associate, Princess Ewa, Research Assistant, and Gift Ojima, Communications Officer, paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of Switzerland. The meeting provided a valuable  platform to introduce CSEA’s mission and research capabilities, resulting in a key  outcome: a proposed partnership under the Embassy’s "Business Meets Politics" (BmP) initiative.

On February 2, 2026, a CSEA delegation led by the Executive Director Dr Chukwuka Onyekwena, alongside Anthony Okon, Research Fellow, Anthony Bisong, Research Associate and Gift Ejeh Ojima, Communication Officer paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of Brazil.  

Key  discussions focused on opportunities to host Brazilian delegations specialising in economic policy and trade, co-hosting policy roundtables, and integrating CSEA into the Embassy’s stakeholder database to facilitate sustained knowledge exchange. The engagement highlighted a shared commitment to deepening institutional linkages and fostering bilateral economic cooperation through joint programming and research alignment.
 

The CSEA team led by its Executive Director, Dr. Chukwuka Onyekwena,  Anthony Okon (Research Associate) and Gift Ojima (Communications Officer), paid a courtesy visit to the Danish Embassy on January 30, 2026.

The visit provided a platform for constructive dialogue on shared priorities, resulting in a comprehensive discussion on potential collaboration across several key areas, including economic policy research, trade and investment, development finance, regional integration, and knowledge exchange. The engagement revealed a strong alignment between CSEA’s research agenda and the Embassy’s development objectives.

The Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA), led by its Executive Director, Dr. Chukwuka Onyekwena, and the Head of Communications, Drusilla David, paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, on Tuesday, 27th January 2026. The Director-General was accompanied by directors and other senior management officials of the agency.
The visit provided an opportunity for both institutions to deliberate on potential areas of collaboration aimed at promoting an inclusive, innovation-led Nigerian economy.
As a leading policy think tank focused on evidence-based research, CSEA is well positioned to partner with NBTI to strengthen efforts to commercialise research and development outputs across key innovative sectors of the economy.
 

The Federal Ministry of Education organised a two-day National Teachers' Summit on January 27-28, 2026, at the State House Banquet Hall in Aso Villa, Abuja. The summit, themed "Empowering Teachers, Strengthening the System: A National Agenda for Education Transformation and Sustainability,"  convened dignitaries including Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, alongside prominent government officials, education stakeholders, and development partners. The Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA) was represented by Dr. Oluwatosin Edafe (Research Fellow), and Martin Ufi (Research Associate).

The summit served as a forum for paper presentations on teacher empowerment and system-wide education reforms. It also featured the launch of a comprehensive two-pronged framework aimed at improving professional teaching standards and learning outcomes, as well as  the  introduction of Teacher Investigating Panels. The First Lady formally launched the EduRevamp Online Teacher Professional Development Portal, designed to strengthen continuous professional development and improve learning outcomes  across the country.. Selected Teachers from across the six geopolitical zones were recognised for their exceptional expertise, with prizes awarded in  two categories: basic education and senior secondary education. 

CSEA co-sponsored the summit alongside other organisations.. The Centre’s participation  provided valuable insights into current national priorities on teacher welfare, professional development, and education system reform, all of which are closely related to the Centre's research and policy engagement agenda. The summit concluded with the presentation of a formal communiqué outlining key resolutions and policy directions.
