The Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA) hosted a Research and Career Development Event for members of the Nigerian Economics Students Association (NESA), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) chapter, on Friday, September 11, 2026.
Organized to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application, the event aimed to mentor and guide aspiring economists on career progression, postgraduate education, and evidence-based policy research. The session was led by CSEA leadership and staff, including Executive Director Dr. Chukwuka Onyekwena, who delivered a welcome speech, as well as encouragement to the students.
The program featured interactive sessions covering a range of valuable topics, including exploring career paths with an economics degree, research communications, building impactful relationships through the portfolio effect, and navigating life after graduation with guidance on graduate school admissions. The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session where students asked questions about career growth and academic development.
The event successfully equipped participating students with strategic insights, practical career advice, and valuable professional connections.
