On June 21, 2023, CSEA hosted stakeholders from the tobacco policy space in Nigeria to discuss findings from our research in our latest policy brief titled ‘The Role of States in Tobacco Control Nigeria’.
This research is conducted with support from Cancer Research Uk (CRUK) in partnership with Development Gateway.
This policy brief underscores the importance of state involvement in tobacco control efforts and provides evidence-based recommendations, utilizing the WHO MPOWER framework, to assist state governments in Nigeria, in effectively implementing tobacco control policies and programs to protect their residents from the harmful consequences of tobacco use.
The event held at CSEA Conference hall in Abuja, Nigeria, featured presentations from CSEA research team and Development Gateway.
There were also breakout sessions where participants had in-depth discussions, knowledge transfer, sharing of experiences, as well as the administration of a tool kit that will serve as a guide for further discussions in other states, specifically on how to implement global best practices on tobacco control.
