CSEA Projects Update

The Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA) is a non-profit think tank that conducts independent and evidence-based research on economic policy issues in Nigeria and the rest of Africa.

From 2009 until 2019, the Centre’s core-funding was provided by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada, through the Think Tank Initiative (TTI) Institutional Grant of CAD 702,682 for the period: 2014-2019.

As the funding came to an end, CSEA developed a fundraising strategy to sustain its activities and continue to achieve its objectives as a research think tank. To improve the resilience of the Centre’s funding structure, CSEA has continued to actively seek more stable funding sources in addition to project funds.

The Centre currently benefits from research grants/project funding from international organisations including Master Card Foundation, the World Bank, Development Gateway, Cancer Research UK, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Southern Voice Network, Brookings Institution, Global Development Network, among others.

On the national and continental level, CSEA has been engaged by organisations such as the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), IPAR Senegal, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, Nigerian Export-Import Bank, and Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), among others.

The table below highlights the Centre’s ongoing projects and recently completed projects for the period 2020-2024.
