Advancing Education Solutions: West Africa Team Consultative Workshop in Ghana

Associates for Change (AfC), CERFODES, and the Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA) conducted an intensive five-day planning workshop focused on advancing educational solutions. The workshop aimed to explore research methodologies for scaling educational innovations in emergency contexts and in regions affected by fragility, conflict, and violence in Burkina Faso, Ghana, and Nigeria, under the initiative titled Accelerated ED+. The workshop was conducted in Accra, Ghana, from January 27th to January 31st, 2025. CSEA was represented by Dr. Adedeji Adeniran, Director of Research; Dr. Oluwatosin Edafe, Research Fellow; and Tikristini Olawale, Research Associate.

The workshop convened essential stakeholders, including government representatives, educational innovators, and research specialists from the three nations, to collaboratively generate and exchange ideas regarding the scaling of educational innovations in emergency and conflict-affected regions within these countries. The principal discussions encompassed an exhaustive and situational analysis of out-of-school conditions specific to each country, the theoretical framework of change, and the expansion of educational initiatives through a community-led approach. The Accelerated ED+ initiative seeks to enhance access to and retention of high-quality education for resilient communities and educational systems, employing a gender, equality, and inclusion (GEI) framework in regions impacted by fragility, conflict, and violence (FCV).
