About Okorie David Iheke

Dr. Okorie is a Senior Fellow at the Center for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA). He is currently an Associate Professor of Economics at the New Zealand University of Waikato Institute (NZUWI), School of Accounting, Finance and Economics (SAFE), Waikato Management School (WMS), University of Waikato. He supervises graduate and undergraduate students’ dissertations and theses. Dr. Okorie teaches courses like Econometrics, Microeconomics, Global Economics, et cetera. Dr. Okorie has worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the China Institute for Studies in Energy Policy (CISEP), School of Management, Xiamen University, China. He also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE) and the School of Economics (SOE), Xiamen University, China.


Dr. Okorie has a doctorate in Finance, a master’s degree in Econometrics, and a bachelor’s degree in Economics. He completed his graduate studies at Xiamen University (XMU), China, and his undergraduate study at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), Nigeria. Dr. Okorie has introduced several econometric and calibration models in Economics and Finance. His research studies focus on Sustainable Climate Finance (Green Finance), Renewable Energy Transition, Financial Econometrics, and General Equilibrium Modelling. Dr. Okorie has published award-winning articles in top-ranking journals like Energy Economics, Finance Research Letters, Energy, Journal of Cleaner Productions, Financial Innovations, North American Journal of Economics and Finance, et cetera.

Research Areas of Engagement at CSEA: Dynamic and Static CGE modelling, Renewable Energy Transitioning, Decarbonization & Net-zero, Financial Econometrics, Data Governance, and other related areas.
