Non-resident Research Associate
Sixtus is a dedicated International Development professional with growing expertise in gender studies, focusing particularly on the intersection of conflict and gender in the Global South. He is committed to research and impact evaluation in the broader development sector, with a keen interest in the effectiveness of development aid programs in areas such as education access and learning, violence against women and girls (VAWG) prevention and response, and economic empowerment for women and youth.
Currently, Sixtus is a PhD candidate in International Development at the University of Portsmouth, UK, supported by a prestigious UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) studentship. His doctoral research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of government and NGO-led prevention and response measures for VAWG during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to his doctoral studies, Sixtus is an Associate Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth. He is also actively involved in research initiatives at the university, serving as a board member of the Centre for the Advancement of Equality, Gender, and Inclusion Studies (AEGIS), where he contributes to research efforts, coordinates digital communications, and supports partnerships, events, and project planning
