About The Author

OLUWATOSIN DEBORAH EDAFE

Oluwatosin Deborah Edafe, Ph.D, is a Research Fellow at the Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA) and a member of the Impact Partner Organisation Consortium (IPOC) team tasked with analysing the dynamics of the post-basic education system in Africa. She holds a Ph.D and MSc (Economics) from the prestigious Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria. Her First Degree is in Economics Education from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria in affiliation with Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Nigeria. Her research interests cut across Human Capital Development, Macroeconomics and Development Economics. Before joining CSEA, she worked as an Education Officer in the Ondo State Ministry of Education, Nigeria, for over a decade, supervising education activities. She has also worked with some Lead/Principal Investigators/Coordinators at Covenant University, Nigeria; Witten/Herdecke University, Germany; Alexander von Humboldt, Germany; Russell Sage Foundation, USA; Allegheny College, USA; NDDC projects in Nigeria; and COVID- 19 Macroeconomic Policy Responses in Africa (COMPRA) project with the Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA) and the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) teams, sing qualitative and quantitative approaches. Presently, she works with CSEA on the diagnostics of the basic education sector in Nigeria using the RISE education systems diagnostic framework. Oluwatosin is a member of the Nigerian Economics Society (NES) and she emerged as the 1st Prize Winner of the 2023 NES PhD Thesis Award. She also emerged as the best graduating in her First Degree, MSc and PhD.

BELLO MUHAMMAD ABDULLAHI

Bello is a Research Assistant at CSEA. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Development Studies from the Federal University of Kashere, with a First-class Honours degree. His research interests encompass a wide range of topics, including energy economics, macroeconomics, international and development economics. He has also engaged in various research projects, with a focus on economic growth, inflation, and foreign direct investment in Nigeria. Prior to joining CSEA, he also had a history of accomplishments, research, and volunteer experience dating back three years. He is also a full active member of the Nigerian Economics Society and the World Economics Association. Bello is also a recipient of the NNPC-Chevron Merit Undergraduate Scholarship as well as the Federal Government National Merit Award Scholarship.
