CSEA participates in workshops on Local Content in the Context of Environment and Africa’s New Climate Economy

Dr. Adedeji Adeniran participated in a series of two workshops organized by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), in partnership with the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA), on February 2-3, 2020 in Cape Town. The workshops were targeted at policymakers, experts and academics and aim to generate ideas and recommendations that will result in concrete actions towards a more resilient and prosperous Africa.

The first event, “ New Frontiers in Local Content: Environment and Transparency ”, featured presentations on different topics such as Incorporating Environmental Standards in Local Procurement, Extractives Procurement and Carbon Emissions, Environment and Local Procurement in Extractive Industries.

The second event, “Advocacy and Africa’s New Climate Economy: Evidence-based Action” provided a platform for participants to share perspectives from their respective think tanks. In his presentation, Dr. Adeniran highlighted how economic diversification can contribute to climate change mitigation as well as reduce the cost of climate finance.
